Fantasy Makers and a Pumpkinhead

Hello readers!

This is a sort of weird and ghostly manicure I did a week or so ago. I used a base of three coats of Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers in Night Glow. It didn't end up opaque but I wanted to do a mild and muted color so I was alright with a little VNL. Since that just wasn't cool enough by itself for a Halloween themed manicure, I added two coats of a Pumpkinhead polish that had both metallic taupe hex glitter and holographic half-moon glitter.  This was a really neat combination but it was impossible for me to get pictures of it glowing. How on earth do you other bloggers do it?

China Glaze It's Alive!

Hello readers :)

Short post tonight because I had the hardest time getting good pictures of this polish. This is China Glaze's It's Alive from their Halloween 2011 collection. This is a super cool glitterbomb with a murky green base and loads of multisized light green glitter. There is micro glitter as well as hex glitter all in the same color. This was a surprisingly easy to apply glitter, only two coats for opacity over CND Sticky base coat. If I was a little more heavy handed I probably could have gotten away with one coat. This is a topcoat eater though, I had to do two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri to get it slightly even. When it finally dried, the polish was still bumpy but it was so pretty, I didn't even care! Here is my only successful picture:

Cosmetic post!

Hola lovelies!

So, I was a bit busy last weekend, sorry for the tardy post. This one is a makeup post with products from Evil Shades owner and Nail Blogger Andrea! This is a neat eye I did with some of her limited edition colors from her Halloween collection as well as one of her awesome blushes. The only primer I have on is my usual concealer to even my skin out, then I did a base of the blush, Atomic on my whole eye area up to my brow. After that I used the LE Braaaaaaains on my eye lids then LE Zombiefied on my crease. This is a really neat look that was super vivid and fun to wear!

I know I have long lashes. No I don't  use anything to help them out other than mascara. They sort of suck actually, always hitting the lenses of my glasses and getting mascara on my cheeks! What do you think of my non-polish post?

Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers: Vamp

Hello hello!

Today I've got a Fantasy Makers color that I haven't seen on other blogs yet. This is Vamp, a merlot jelly that looks great for the season. In the bottle, it looks almost identical to Essie Wicked for a point of reference. This is two easy coats and the color dried super shiney! Sorry about the tip wear, this was day three and the sun had been hiding for days due to storms.

Revlon Facets of Fuchsia

Hello lovely readers!

Tonight I have for you Facets of Fuchsia from Revlon. This is a great black jelly base with purple hex and micro glitters. FoF is supposed to be a dupe for one of the pretty Deborah Lippmann polishes, Bad Romance. I don't own the DL to compare to but if you google it you should find multiple posts about it. This is two coats of FoF over one coat of a black cream by Wet n Wild. One coat is a little lumpy with the glitter but two evens it out nicely and adds depth to the glitter.

Wet n Wild Halloween Mani

Good evening lovelies!

Tonight I've got a manicure I Loooved when I had it on. This is Wet n Wild's Creepy Pumpkin under their Tangled in My Web. Creepy Pumpkin is a bright orange jelly with a lot of sparkly glitter that is almost holographic in the right light. This is a fairly sheer polish so my base is three coats of CP. I then added one coat of Tangled in My Web for a super awesome Halloween look. TiMW is black hex glitter in a clear base that is part of their Limited Edition collection On the Prowl which I was lucky enough to find at a grocery store of all places!

China Glaze Zombie Zest

Hello readers!

I'm currently at a huge Ninja Festival in Ohio right now but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss a post this week. Today I've got pictures of my Zombie Zest manicure. This is a really neat color that I've been waiting to wear until October to celebrate Halloween. ZZ is from last year's China Glaze Halloween collection and it's a really glitter-filled murky green jelly. The glitter in a fine green glitter with a neat teal flash in the right lighting. This did take three coats for relative opacity but it's soooo worthwhile!

Sally Hansen Pumpkin Spice

Good afternoon readers!

Today I've got a little layering mani for you. This is Sally Hansen Pumpkin spice, a pale brown jely base with orange glitter, over a nice dark orange, OPI Chop-sticking to My Story. I wanted to do this over orange instead of black or brown because I didn't want this to be too dark, I have customers at work who pick on me when my polish looks black! This is one coat of CsMS under three of Pumkin Spice.

China Glaze Trendsetter

Good evening!

I'm in the middle of dinner and watching the Lion King but I wanted to make sur eI got in a post for tonight. This is two coats of China Glaze's Trendsetter from their Fall 2011 Metro Collection. I love this "fugly" color and I got a couple of interesting remarks and a handful of compliments when I wore it. I really love the silver fleck shimmer in this polish, it adds depth. Formula was great, topped with Seche QD. I was experimenting with a light box in these pictures and I don't think they helped :(

L'Oreal Owl's Night

Hi again!

Sorry I forgot to post yesterday, I got my days mixed up and wasn't sure when my last post was. That and I was busy making Hubby some chicken soup for his sore throat. Anyways, today I've got one of the polishes from L'Oreal's Project Runways collection: Owl's Night. This is a really interesting polish, and I have nothing mildly similar to it. It has a smoky grey/brown base with a tone of multicolored microglitter in it. The glitter ranges in color from gold, to green, to red. Overall it's a hard to photograph color but it's gorgeous to wear. This is two coats of super easy application over Seche Recondition and topped with Seche QD.

The great thing about this is that it wasn't hard to remove since the glitter particles were so small.

Color Club Back to BoHo Pt. 2

Good evening readers!

I still have a cold which has turned into a dry cough. I'm about ready for this bug to be gone! Today I've got the second half of Color Club's Fall 2011 collection, Back to BoHo. This is the half with some neat shimmer and metallic colors!

Boho Mojo, what a horribly streaky frost!

Rebel Spirit

L-R: Rebel Spirit, Zoya Codie, Rebel Spirit
I did a quick comparison of Rebel Spirit to Zoya Codie because they look pretty similar in the bottle. It's hard to tell in my picture but Codie has more green undertones than Rebel Spirit. Codie also has a much easier to work with formula and only needed to easy coats.

What do you think? Which is your favorite from this half? I'm pretty sure I'm in love with Artsy Craft still even though I've already worn it with my Kleancolor.

Today I've got the first half of Color Club's Fall collection, Back to BoHo. Most of these are two coats and no top or base, they're my first real "swatches" !

Earthly Angel

New Bohemian

Shabby Drab

Red-ical Gypsy

I finally found my mannequin hands color! Earthly angel looks like concealer for my nails. It's a neat effect. I like this collection a lot and I'm pretty sure that Shabby Drab is my favorite from this half of the collection.

Name Change

Hello again.

I just wanted to let you know that I've recently changed the name of the blog. The URL will remain the same but the display name is different. When I started blogging I was the only Lacquer Lover and now there are multiples which is frustrating to me. So, I took a little time to pick out a name that I have not seen anywhere else! Same me though, just a cooler name ;)

China Glaze Brownstone

Good afternoon!

After sleeping 14 hours last night, I'm feeling a little better but I've got a bit of a sore throat that I wish would go away. Here's China Glaze's Brownstone from their Metro Chic collection. This is a card to capture color because it is also hard to describe. In the bottle it looks like a medium brick red. On the nail it looks a lot more brown with red undertones in the right lighting. Either way, it is a pretty color and I got some nice compliments on when when I was wearing it at work. This is two coats with Orly Sec 'n Dry topcoat.
