Abandoned Dog Update

I saw this today and I had to share since so many of you seemed interested in how this little guy is doing. It looks like Tad (Totally Awesome Dog) is going to make it! They have started treatment for his mange issues and his skin is less red/cracked/bleeding! Any step forward for this dog is a great one. What a fighter he seems to be :) Tiffany over at The Abandoned Dog has been posting daily video updates on his progress that you should check out.

And people have been super helping her out! People have stopped by to hang out with him and see about his care, local TV stations have called to cover the story and she's even made a Facebook page that you can join HERE to keep tabs on Mr.Tad.

On Wednesday I wore pink!

But I didn't get to post about it. So today I will share with you my candy looking nails! I love this color sooo much. This is Essie Watermelon which is a vibrant pink that looks just like skittles or M&M's or something edible. Two coats to perfection, super shiny and GORGEOUS with one coat of Seche QD.

Essie Update: Resort and Brazilliant

((As seen on Body and Soul here))

So, the resort collection has a name! It's called Fair game and has a safari theme going on. Great colors for your summer getaway!

From Body and Soul: "Above: Essie Resort 2011. This 4 piece collection will be available May 1 and includes 4 shades: Fair Game, Your Hut or Mine, Lion Around, Da Bush."

I'm sort of in love with Da Bush. I loooove jade-green shades and that one is gorgeous! Lion Around is a neat color too, it's sort of the sunbleached color of your favorite red shirt.

Essie's summer 2011 collection is Brazilliant! Neat play on words I think, it's full of brights and warm colors that you'd see in the native flowers of Brazil and many other tropical countries.

From Body and Soul: "Essie Summer 2011: Braziliant. This 6 piece collection will be available June 1 and include 6 shades: Braziliant, Meet Me at Sunset, Smooth Sailing, Super Bossa Nova, Absolutely Shore, Too Too Hot."

Nerds Scented Polish: Skittles

I picked up this six pack of Nerds Polish a while back at Five Below. I lost my sense of smell over a year ago so I wasn't really interested in the scented aspect of these polished. I am, however, a huge fan of Nerds Candy :) I swatched five of the 6 polishes all at once since I didn't have to smell them and Justin wasn't home to be bothered by it. I reallly like the blue and the orangey-red. None of these colors had names and most of them needed to be thinned out in a baddd way but I wasn't about to thin them out for a quick skittle swatch.

Two coats of each color. The purple and pink were nice and even, the blue and orange/red were super streaky, the green actually didn't look that bad in person. I'm holding the 6th color, I couldn't get myself to put neon yellow on my nails lol.

Essie Bahama Mamma Blinged Out

My nails look like candy right now... Seriously, I want to lick them because they look like lollypops! I'm wearing Essie Watermelon and it's perfect for the springy weather we've been having. However, today's post is about what I wore over the weekend which was Essie Bahama Mamma and NYC Starry Silver Glitter.

Two coats of Bahama mamma looked too plain I guess so I added a coat of Starry Silver Glitter over the top. It was a lovely effect and the darker base color really made the holo on the topcoat pop. Two coats BH, one SSG and one Seche QD.

I rounded my nails off.. I'm not sure which I like better, square or round. What do you think? It's way easier to text with rounded thumbnails for me but I sort of liked the square look on my other fingers.. we'll see.

Non-Polish plea for help

Ok so this is supposed to be a nail polish blog about my adventures in the world of nail lacquers. But, as you may have noticed, I mention dogs frequently and have had a few guest appearances by friend's dogs with painted toes. Today I was shown a blog about a heartbreaking rescue story.

This owner of this blog works with a vet and as a photographer in Texas. She found a badly emaciated, mange stricken, and worm riddled dog on the side of a busy highway over the weekend and is now doing everything in her power to help him. By help him this means that she is providing all the vet care that might let him survive this horrible neglect. Should the dog stop trying to fight for his life, she understands that helping him would mean letting him go as well. She is being his angel when he's been thrown away by other humans.

I'm posting this because animal, particularly dog and cat, rescue is something I believe strongly in. Not everyone would even give this guy a fighting chance, most people wouldn't even stop to pick him up off the road but she did. So if you'd like to read his story and see the amazing strength of heart this dog has, despite everything he's been through, check out The Abandoned Dog Blog and spread the word that humans do still have hearts.

Essie: Merino Cool

I'd been holding off on trying this polish because I already knew I would like it. So I put in on when I was feeling sort of blah one night and it was definitely worth waiting for! (Sounds like a corny abstinence poster, doesn't it?)

Anyways, this is from Essie's Fall 2010 collection and is a much more purple take on the usual greige. There are definite grey and taupe undertones to this polish but it is completely creme purple in some lights. I did two coats of this to make it the lovely shiny finish I'm used to seeing in Essie cremes with Seche QD top coat.

Essie pedi

So I was sick this weekend. Sick in the way that I couldn't breathe through my nose if I tried and three different types of allergy medicines and decongestants were not helping me out. I hate pollen, a lot. Anyways, here's a few pictures of the Essie Coat Azure pedi I did to match my new sandals.

French Attempt

I spent something like two hours trying to do my nails one night (Monday night?) and ended up with naked nails the next day. one of the things I attempted was a sheer look using Essie's Sugar Daddy. I liked the way it looked alone but thought it needed a little more... So I tried to add French tips! Uhm, it didn't work out toooo badly but I definitely need to work on my technique!

Three coats of Sugar Daddy with Blanc for the tips!

My First Franken!

I'm calling this Rockin' Robin because I spent most of my time with this trying to get the blue close to robin egg blue. I  originally started this off as a Glitter in the Air dupe but I don't have the right glitter to put in it so it turned into a pretty Easter color. It needs to be thinned out in a bad way and I didn't bother to do any clean up because I didn't intend to keep it on after I took pictures.

This is two coats of Rockin' Robin with no base coat and Seche Top Coat.

Again, this is nooo clean up. so please ignore the horrible mess on my cuticles! Isn't it a neat color though? And no, I am not sure what all went into this lol. I think I used something close to 6 polishes in this franken lol.

NYC: Starry Silver Glitter

I was thinking of letting my nails go naked, and they were for most of yesterday. It was slightly disturbing for me to look at my naked nails and their sad slightly yellowed hue so I had to put something on them! I stopped by the local Rite Aid hoping to find the display of oke Doke still around so I could pick up the pretty blue that I'd see swatches of. No such luck, looks like at least my Rite Aid has stopped carrying oke Doke. They did still have the Jesse's Girl collection though, I allllmost picked up firefly but refrained. I ended up finding this pretty awesome NYC glitter for .99$ and picked up a buffing block too.

This is two coats of NYC Starry Silver Glitter over Nailtiques Formula 2. No base color coat here, I wanted something that looked slightly naked still without showing my sad yellow nails to the world. I love this! The silver background glitter is actually a pretty scattered holo and the big electric blue and lavender hex glitters make me think of Glitter in the Air. I bet it would be great for trying to Franken a GitA dupe.

Milani 3d: Digital

Soooo it's been a few days, sorry! My computer wasn't reading my camera card so I couldn't upload the pictures of this new holo polish! This is a gorgeous dusty rose colored polish. It dried super fast, didn't have any pulling issues between coats but it did take three coats to get properly opaque. Digital is what I expected Tronica swatches to look  like. It has a great linear holo effect and scattered holo flakes too. This is going to be a lot of pictures because I just LOVED this polish! I picked up the lime green Hi-Tech too and will be wearing it soon!
